VASP Event Almost Triples Its Impact for Veterans Day

VASP Event Honors Veterans with Free Oil Changes Ahead of Veteran’s Day 2024

In an inspiring show of gratitude and community support, the VASP (Veterans Appreciation Service Program) event successfully gave back to those who have served. On November 10, 2024, just one day before Veteran’s Day, eight local veterans were treated to free oil changes (nearly a 300% increase from the 3 veterans served in June)—a small yet meaningful gesture to thank them for their service to the nation.

The event, held at E&R Automotive in Big Bear Lake, CA, brought together veterans, volunteers, and local business in a heartwarming display of camaraderie and appreciation. With a mission to ease the burdens of veterans and acknowledge their sacrifices, VASP continues to grow as a beacon of community service and goodwill.

The VASP Event: A Success Story

The idea behind VASP is simple yet impactful: to give back to those who have given so much. The event on November 10th marked its most successful effort yet, serving seven veterans from different branches of the military. Each veteran who showed up received a complimentary oil change performed by skilled mechanics, ensuring their vehicles are ready for the road.

Event organizers William Carroll and Megan Napier of VETS.COM and the Napier Carroll Organization expressed gratitude for the event’s success. “This is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our veterans,” they said. “We want them to know they’re valued, not just on Veteran’s Day but every day.”

Community Effort at Its Best

The success of VASP wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of local businesses and volunteers. Sean Ellsworth of E&R Automotive secured the donation of the oil and filters from his vendors, while the team at E&R Automotive provided the labor and facilities free of charge.

Veterans and the Community Coming Together

Why Events Like VASP Matter

Veterans often face unique challenges as they transition from military service to civilian life. Events like VASP not only address practical needs, such as vehicle maintenance, but also foster a sense of belonging and appreciation. Small acts of kindness like this can make a big difference, reminding veterans they are not forgotten.

Looking Ahead: The Future of VASP

Building on the success of this year’s event, organizers are already planning for an even bigger impact in 2025. They aim to increase the number of veterans served on Veteran’s Day and include additional services, such as minor repairs during the year.

Community members and businesses interested in supporting future VASP events can donate through our Gofundme, purchase from our store, or reach out to us here at VETS.COM to volunteer.

Every contribution—whether it’s time, money, or resources—helps honor those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms.

In conclusion, the 2024 VASP event was a shining example of how the community can come together to honor and support veterans. By providing free oil changes to eight deserving individuals, the program demonstrated that even small acts of kindness can leave a lasting impression.

As Veteran’s Day 2024 has come and gone, let events like VASP inspire us all to find ways to give back. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply saying “thank you,” we can all play a part in showing our appreciation to the brave men and women who have served our nation.
